The HUB Child & Family Centre

Frequently Asked Questions

What does it mean to be licensed?

Licensed child care is government-regulated early learning and care that takes place in child care centres.  Child care centres provide care for children in a group setting. All licensed child care centres are regularly visited and inspected by staff from the Ministry of Education and are licensed under the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014. A license means that the child care program has met the Child Care and Early Years Act, 2014 standards for children's health and safety, nutrition, equipment, appropriate programs and activities, staff training and more.

What programs do you offer?

The HUB offers licensed child care at two centre based locations, before & after school, summer camp, PA Day camp, and home child care at various locations within Prince Edward County.

What are EarlyON playgroups?

EarlyON Child and Family Centres offer free, high-quality programs for families and children from birth to 6 years old. You can learn and play with your child, meet other families and get advice from early childhood professionals. EarlyON has free drop-in programs and community outreach programs that are open to all parents and caregivers to bring their child to.

What does an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) do?

Early Childhood Educators play an important role in helping to create a high-quality early learning and child care system that is inclusive for all families. They create engaging and inclusive play-based learning environments, build caring relationships with children, families, and communities, enhance child and family well-being and engagement and support children’s healthy development.

What ages of children do you provide care for?

We provide care for ages from infants to the age of 13 between our licensed child care centres and School Age programs.

What are the fees for child care?

All of our fees can be found under the licensed program tab on the website for each specific program.

Do you have a waiting list?

Yes, all of our programs have a waiting list. There is a child care interest inquiry form right on the homepage of our website if you are interested in our licensed child care locations.

Do I have to go back on the wait list if my child moves to another age group?

No, we will automatically move children from one age group to the next.

Is The HUB enrolled in the Canada Wide Early Learning and Child Care Agreement (CWELCC)?

Yes! We are happy to say that we are enrolled in CWELCC.

What is CWELCC?

The Canada Wide Early Learning and Child Care program offers families access to more affordable, high-quality, and inclusive early learning and child care. We believe that child care provides a strong foundation for early childhood development and wellbeing of children, and we are committed to providing child care services that meet the needs of your children and families. Participating in the CWELCC System will help us to continue to provide high quality child care that is accessible, affordable, inclusive and sustainable.

Is there access to subsidy for child care?

To inquire about child care subsidy you can connect with Prince Edward Lennox & Addington Social Services (PELASS) and go through the application process and determine eligibility. Child Care Fee Subsidy is a program intended to help families with the cost of their child care expenses.

Do you issue tax receipts?

Yes, we provide tax receipts. They are emailed out in February of each year for the previous year.

Can I come for a tour before my child’s first day of care?

Yes, of course. We can schedule a visit to the child care centre before starting the first day of care.

What kind of food is provided?
